Australian Passport Office

Alert: hoax email

We are aware of an email purporting to be from the Australian Passport Office which claims our systems have crashed, and asks people to ‘confirm your Passport to our database’ using a website link. We never send emails asking you to log onto our website to provide your passport details. If you receive an email you believe to be phishing, do not open any of the links or attachments and delete the email from your inbox and your deleted items folder. You can report any related scams to SCAMwatch, an independent website run by the Australian Competition and Consumer Council (ACCC), and/or to the Australian Cybercrime Online Reporting Network (ACORN) managed by the Australian Federal Police.
