You’ll need to create an AusPassport account before you begin your online application.
To create an account you must:
- confirm you’re 18 years or over
- accept the terms and conditions
- provide personal details
- provide an email address
- choose a password
- set up multi-factor authentication.
If you don’t verify your email address before midnight the day after creating your account, it will be deleted and you’ll need to start again.
Your password must have at least 14 characters and include three of the following:
- lowercase letter (a-z)
- uppercase letter (A-Z)
- number (0-9)
- special characters (#?!@$%^&*->./\`~{}[])
Your password can’t start with a hash (#) or have spaces.
Resetting your password
To reset your password, follow these steps:
- Select 'Reset your password' from the AusPassport home page.
- Enter your AusPassport login email address.
- Enter the code we send to your email address.
- Choose where we should send a verification code.
- Enter the code.
- Choose a new password.
Use of your AusPassport account
Your account can be used to:
- prepare your passport application
- monitor the progress of your passport application
- update your account details
- change your password.
If you think your account has been compromised, call us immediately on 131 232.
Locked out of your AusPassport account?
If you enter the wrong email address or password 3 times in a row, your account will be temporarily locked for 5 minutes.
To change your password, select 'Change password' from the 'My passport applications' page.
- Select 'Reset your password' from the AusPassport home page.
- Enter your AusPassport login email address.
- Enter the code we send to your email address.
- Choose where we should send a verification code.
- Enter the code.
- Choose a new password.
Delete your AusPassport account
To delete your account, call us on 131 232.
Report a security breach of your AusPassport account
If you think your account has been compromised, reset your password and call us on 131 232. For example, if your AusPassport login email and password have been accessed by another person without your permission.
You may be required to provide us with information on:
- when you believe your account was compromised and how
- when you last signed in
- whether you’ve shared your AusPassport login email address or password with someone else.
We’ll send you an email if your password has been changed.
